2012 - Google to develop new scoring metrics...

I hear they are evolving metrics that will analyse and assess content posted online to assess a "score" that should apply to it. The algorithm may be subject to many changes this year as they evolve towards a reliable result.

I predict that a whole industry will spring up to provide consulting and implementation services to businesses to help them to achieve better results in the "league tables" they will publish. It's Google, it matters, so businesses worldwide will quickly recognise the need to win the game for business benefit.

Google getting more deeply involved is good news for googles users who will benefit significantly from the results of the metric. Google will make a massive shift towards social media metrics being at the core of business management information.

Are you ready?

Evolution playing its part

Hi William Its all very interesting and its all part of the evolution of the web which is good for us all. (I think). As consumers we want the internet and healthy competition form the providers of the web, Mr Zuckerberg wants the internet to be inside Facebook and he nearly achieved his goal but for the efforts of Google... (and others). We love you Google, oh yes we do... Can you name that tune.... Mick...

It will be interesting to see how this pans out - for example, will they be able to analyse the contents of an ibook or of a security enabled pdf? It wil lalso be fascinating to see the outpouring of angst if an academic or subject expert publishes something online that gets a lower "score" that a vapid, cliche riddles pot-boiler! Warm regards Nic

2012 - Google to develop new scoring metrics...

It's true that Google are moving towards metrics that rate content. That should come as no surprise, given that their global presence is based on algorithms, and most of their staff are software engineers. However, I'm not convinced that they will make a "massive shift towards social media metrics being at the core of business management information". I can't say too much, since they are a client of mine. Let me just say I'd be very surprised to see them go down that route. Best wishes Alan

good post...Is it about improving their social signals in ranking? already we can see g+ deeply linked in search results and literally forcing business to use g+ :)
