Do you invest in renewable energy?

Invest in renewable energy!

Dear Ecademists,

We've started this year the UN Year of Sustainable Energy for All!

Nissar Hoath from Khaleej Times Online wrote today "Invest in renewable energy" and introduced the 5th edition of the World Future Energy Summit!

Leaders of large Asian energy consuming giants on Monday put their weight behind the Middle East to invest in and to promote renewable energy.

What do you think?

Do you invest in renewable energy?

Thanks for your precious feedback!

I wish you a happy and successful New Year of the Chinese Water Dragon that will start on January 23, 2012 to lead us to more prosperity through sustainable energy for All!

Kind regards,

- Lucas

Do you invest in renewable energy?

No, but it's invested itself around here. View of Black Combe from Kirksanton. The Furness fells above Askam, from Black Combe. The Irish Sea from half way up Black Combe. Fishing on Silecroft beach. Silecroft again. Just ignore the crazy woman in the foreground. From Silecroft car park. Some people are making a shed-load of money out of these useless monstrosities. I'm happy to say I'm not one of them. Derek

Hi Lucas, 1) Make all products that consume electricity more efficient. 2) Look at methane, Biomass ! Pig farmer in China and burning rubbish CHP station. 3) Make all building consume less. 4) Sea, Wind and Solar and small to medium Hydro sources, but they are not for every one. Regards Eric

Do you invest in renewable energy?

I have a personal goal to be off grid before 2016 in all ways apart from water and sewerage. I already have (some) home made solar and want to invest in bioethanol making technology for cooking, heating and hot water

Do you invest in renewable energy?

Hi, Thanks for raising this important issue. As a matter of fact I do not. In fact as of now, I am invested in fossil fuel resource companies in India that produce Coal, Oil and Gas from Indian and international mines/ fields. (see my note on LINK) Having said that, I certainly have hopes that these firms spend their profits well and invest in R&D on Renewables. It should be obvious to everyone that: 1) Fossil fuels are accelerating our economic activities, and are the main source of energy as of now. 2) However, Fossil fuels are a limited resource, and will inevitably be consumed and exhausted in time 3) Fossil fuels damage our environment, and should be seen as a stop gap arrangement to an inevitable movement to Renewable energy sources 4) If we ignore human presence on earth, all of nature survives and thrives with renewable energy sources like sunlight, wind and moving water. Humans must learn to live in harmony with nature and move to these sources quickly. I certainly hope that technology improves for us to do this. I would certainly personally invest if I come across an opportunity in this area. Regards Punit Jain

The happiest of Chinese Water Dragons always swim where the current has most potential. They know that the energy needed to raise the World's tide during just one day is equivalent to the energy produced by mankind since 'he' started producing power using non-renewable sources. They sleep through this present global era of waste, pollution and resource destruction, knowing that those who aim to survive will find the way and turn the tide. They, like Nature itself, understand that a quality tomorrow requires a sea change of thought and action so as to harness endless energy that flows freely without end. Yes Lucas; my investment in those presently working on such a a global energy sea change is ongoing and Paul's results are very encouraging.

Do you invest in renewable energy?

Hi Lucus, Great blog! I have made it my mission to focus my design products to use eco friendly, energy saving systems. so I am currently in the process of developing my patent pending ergonomic Hair dryers with eco friendly materials & an energy saving motor so that hair-salon owners the world over can obviously save ever increasing electricity bills & just as important to encourage hair dressers everywhere to change their hair dryers to help make a global difference. Thomas Power has partnered with me to establish and accomplish creating the energy saving hair dryer motors as he is Chairman of Savortex Patented Hand Dryer Technology, which has been winning Awards for their energy saving hand dryer technology. So the answer is Yes, I invest in renewable energy. Oh by the way, Happy New year to you & may this year be prosperous for you! Tony

What about methane Hydrate

Methane Hydrate was new on me when I read about it at the weekend (Aus link because Sunday Times article is behind a paywall.) The case is that there is more of this stuff than there ever was oil. Much of it is around China, who surely is going to become the world's largest energy consumer. And Japan, who have no natural energy resource either. It won't be cheap to extract and there are risks, but surely the oil companies are not going to go away if they can apply their expertise from oil to this instead. The disciples of the man-made global warming hypothesis will not like it, but, in the real world....

Do you invest in renewable energy?

Yes, I've got solar water and log burner heating in my home and its barn annexe. Still using oil in the main house for background heat. Now trying to leverage investment for a community renewable scheme. The cause of localism, business for community re-investment and renewable energy combine for multiple benefits. Creating local part time employment, reducing fossil fuel usage and creating funding for other social initiatives. Parkend development initiative View more presentations from Jeff Mowatt

Dear Lucas, This is a very important topic and I wish you success with your project. Me personally, I don't invest in that area, since it is too far from what I do. However eventually I could back you or become investor if you happen to need a custom software solution. Best regards, Strashimir

Do you invest in renewable energy?

Hi Lucas I couldn't understand why, when I first started thinking about this subject some 30 years ago why, the oil rich giants of the world weren't at that stage investing their vast profits in renewable energy! To me it stands to reason that no matter how much oil you have it won't last for ever; so why not invest during the good years in renewable energy for the future lean years? Perhaps the penny has finally dropped! With regards to your question; not yet but I am reviewing the options available. For the low-down on solar power, check out my web site Third Man Money. Regards Stan
