Don't get too far into bigging yourself up...

Quote:

"The greater the artist, the greater the doubt...

Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize..."

Remember that, eh, next time you start thinking you have life by the throat.

Perhaps if you have been measured to run faster than anyone in the world, you can get a little cocky... 'Living Legend' Usain Bolt The rest of us will just have to make do with delusions of adequacy ;)

I don't know of anyone who doesn't have that horrid voice in their head which tells them how awful they are at every opportunity.

Some children have perfect confidence, until it's beaten out of them by their peers :-) The most confident people I've met in life are those who have devoted themselves to service of one kind or another. Their confidence is more in their calm clarity rather than their bigness.

I've just finished re-reading

The Fatal Shore. Heavy going, but well worth the effort.

I don't think anyone has perfect confidence Steve - I think they're mostly pretending. At least I hope they are...

I don't get art critics; art is such a subjective thing that I don't believe that one persons views could have any real input on any free thinking individual. It's like me tasting a strawberry milkshake and saying that is a crap milkshake because it's too tangy or too sharp because that's what my palate is telling me, but that's just my palate not a defined taste. No I'm not convinced; I believe it is possible to be great and know it; and of course, as in my case vice versa. Stan

The greater the artist, the greater the doubt... It's true. I've seen it in action often enough.
