Hangouts are brilliant

Not just multi-user chat, but multi-user chat that you can record and post to your Youtube channel. Here's an example of a credibility-building Hangout we did with a number of other SMB CRM Vendors. The trick to making this work is having someone produce / moderate, and using plenty of text chat 'back-channel' to make sure everyone is clear who's going to speak next, when someone wants to chip in, etc. Try doing that on Facebook!

Google+

I'm using G+ a lot for sharing content from elsewhere and love adding people from my network on G+ with the '+' option. AND they very often respond either ON G+ or on the source (LI, ecademy, etc.) Very business like.

I just don't get any traction on G+. I do on LI, Facebook and here. Probably just me, but I too find that it is unfriendly, uninspiring and slow. Still I've updated my profile today, registered for authorship and so on, but I never feel encouraged to come back. The mobile apps (non android) are dire, obvious why, but that makes it unattractive, the lack of an API means all my other tools (hoot suite, Buffer etc) are unusable. One day, maybe. Not today.

Love it Google+

I'm a fan - I like G+ I much prefer it to Facebook ad it's level pegging with Twitter as my favourite social tool. In terms of SEO and authorship benefits it can't be beaten. Go-on if you ain't yet got Google + - What you waiting for ? I'm sure that Google will sort out the little bugs in time.. But hey, its free so we're getting a really great deal.. Long live Goolge..... Mick

Hi Thomas, Great stuff! Have just spent an hour on g+ and went crazy! So slow, so user unfriendly it does my brain in! Uploding a simple profile picture is tempting my patience beyond my worst nightmares. Constant errors, failures to store etc. Etc. It s just like gmail losing my messages and trying to think on my behalf! I dare say Googe sucks at user interfaces!! Sorry, had to get this off my chest!! Fred

Hey, look who's here! :-) Concerning the subject of your log, without the hype of other products, Google+ keeps on gaining users and the 100M active ones is really important. Looks like Google has good maps to drive users to Google+ (any reference to Apple Maps... well, you know... ;-) ).

Thomas

Those videos all show Google+ as a Facebooky tyoe tool to share photos and videos yet I know that you see Google+ as a business tool. Can you explain simply/quickly how business people should use it?

Third time lucky ;-) Wave and Buzz never really cut it, they had other smaller tries to, good reason to not give up, though they can afford the non successes and have the brand to make people sit up and notice. I predict G+ and Mobile will kick butt (not exactly the bravest of predictions !)
