It's Friday - It's Testimonials Day

When I woke up this morning I thought that I hadn't thanked some of the people who have had a positive impact on me recently, so I decided to leave a testimonial for at least one of them today, and to make a note to make Friday's a day when I reflect on the week and thank those who have had a positive impact.

It only takes a few minutes but it makes a difference, sometimes a massive one, I know sometimes I've been having a difficult time and a testimonial arriving out of the blue has lifted me enormously. At other times a well timed fresh testimonial has helped me secure new business, so perhaps I can do that for someone else.

Who should you have thanked with a testimonial but just haven't got around to yet? Will you do it today? and every Friday?

It's Friday - It's Testimonials Day - Jane Hatton

Thank you Jane Hatton for your hard work this week. Jane has pulled out the stops this past week and helped to write and place two volunteering positions on her Evenbreak website. Since my first visit to the land mine hospital in Africa I've seen this often unmet desire in people with disabilities to be productive, to make a difference, to use their skills and add value ... Jane's business acts as a catalyst for such opportunities. You can read more about Jane's motive for action in this sector, suffice to say Jane, so glad you came back here to Ecademy and thank you for all the out of hours work you've done to support New Dawn. Very much appreciated!!!

It's Friday - It's Testimonials Day -BINGO!

"Leave what you consider meaningful testimonials for real people about real stuff, the more we all do that...." Be your "authentic" self - and that. is one of the fundamental things I love about William Buist. Whatever his other qualities and how he is viewed by all. I believe no one can deny he is genuine and that in itself provides great value in human interaction.

Don't worry about what other people do, you can't control it anyway. Leave what you consider meaningful testimonials for real people about real stuff, the more we all do that the bettter quality everyone's testimonials will be.

It's Friday - It's Testimonials Day

I'm a bit torn when it comes to testimonials on ecademy. It's a lot of 'He is a nice guy' or 'he writes some good blogs' etc ... and I don't see the point of that to be honest. People connect (or don't connect) with people regardless. Someone that's 'a nice guy' might be a complete arse hole for someone else. I'd never think of reading testimonials in order to connect or make friend with someone however I would check them if I'm thinking of doing business with that person. I guess I'd want to do business with nice people where possible, should they potentially be a supplier or a client, but as I said ... But I'm torned, which means I am probably missing the point.

Touché Sadie, if there is one connection I have to pick from my Global ecademy family it is YOU. Your there cheering me on daily adding to all my Smiles! Your there when my heart sinks as my son serves his regiment and country abroad and when my daughter struggled through last year. A rich friend indeed. I feel that when we meet, it will be over a meal to break bread with wine. Love from me in Wales! Wales! Wales! Yes, the rugby season is again upon us. Carolyn :)xxx

Love the new John Cassidy Profile photo of you William. It's the end of one era and the beginning of something new for William. That new is exciting and whatever it is you get an appetite for, I'm very sure you will excel and smile looking back at where you started. Meeting you offline a few times, I still get the gut feeling you hold back that inner connectedness. Your USP is a ball of fire, so may I suggest you trust your core beliefs and allow people to get closer to you. Phil seems to sum up your qualities well and that in itself a testimonial to YOU. Wishing you everything you richly deserve. Carolyn x Carolyn Williams moving minds and people in business. www.cardiffboardroom.co.uk www.lifestyle-online.co.uk

I'll say it here, and I'll repeat it on his site. I spent the day at Mick Say's Workshop on Digital Marketing. He is a true expert. He understands the subject, but even more importantly, he knows how it can benefit each one of us. As a direct result of what he said, I shall be making significant changes to my website, blogging differently, raising my profile with search engines. Mick great. He's direct and to the point. And he did the Workshop at a very special rate for Black Stars. What a star! PKP

By the way, Don't just post a testimonial because I ask you too. Post them because the person you write about deserves them. In a contemptuous dismissal of the aim of this blog given elsewhere it was claimed that any testimonials that arise would be insincere fluff (my paraphrase). We know that's nonsense.

This week I've given a long overdue testimonial to Glenn Watkins I've known and worked with Glenn for 7 years, both during his time as the Chief Executive of Ecademy and subsequently. Glenn is a man of the highest integrity, clear focus, and a strategic mind. He will bring vigour and business focus to any business in which he is involved. He has been an advocate of mastermind groups through his membership of Ecademy as Chief Executive and demonstrates his willingness to share his knowledge and skills for the benefit of others in many peer-to-peer environments in which I've had the pleasure of seeing him work. A man of sincerity and honour whose abilities are quietly delivered but with amazing effectiveness.

Thanks for the nudge William. I have often thought that the testimonials part of this site is used far too little. I keep thinking that I must do more more often. I will have a go at joining in and doing something regularly. We must not forget too to thank those people who have left testimonials for us. On one or two occasions when I or someone I know has left a glowing heart-felt piece that has been lovingly crafted to express how someone has been an asset to our lives, only to find that there is no response. It is a little disheartening when that happens. An acknowledgement of some sort is always welcomed and makes the effort worthwhile.

I agree with you, we should find and take opportunities for sharing gratitude and acknowledging others radomly everyday - privately! Giving a Testimonial is doing it "publicly" - so others might get a glimpse into someone they may not know and may just be the first impetus for them to get to know them...like them...etc. For me, that is how I look at this opportunity William has challenged us to do and why I like it ;-) Cheers!

It's a good thread William - and one often overlooked. I tend to find I thank people a lot privately - and often look-in on people randomly I haven't spoke to in a few weeks, months (or even years) even it's a only a text. Wouldn't harm to do the public bit though either...

William, another very good idea. I sometimes do testimonials / positive plugs for people in my monthly e-newsletter Successful Solo. They usually come from a book I have read and liked or a speaker heard at an event. I will now do this every month, starting in August with David Lester and Ian Wallis and their book Business Gurus. A related blog will also go onto ecademy.

It is a good thought. I remember I built an application in one of my past companies where every employee was encouraged to record something positive that his colleague has done. It was a very welcome one. I agree with your suggestion. It breaks the ice. Most of the times, enmity comes out of assumptions and a person taking a step forward makes the other person take two more steps towards him.
