Olympics and Winning

Well done UK they pulled the Olympics off and have done us proud.

Winning disposition and a winning personality is what it takes in every aspect of your life. Never let the negative press, the economy, the loss of a customer the disappointments beat you. Because when you have the sheer determination and the winning attitude you can achieve anything.

Well done medalists and all that competed around the world you have done us proud.

Good luck everyone with business and with life.

Here to support and help when you need or want it.

Olympics and Winning

Hey the Brits did more than win a few gongs. I was mightily impressed by Transport For London (TFL) who worked extraordinary hours and under the most trying conditions and yet the on-train, at station experience was friendly and informative always. Our friend Mark at Northfields dealt with a LOT of late night hassles but stayed calm throughout. I really enjoyed the TV presenters. Unpretentious, warm and always wry or dry. I loved the back story coverage of athletes. I think the volunteers are the secret to these games. You cannot go past London as the perfect backdrop to an event this global. I loved the environmentally low impact stadiums It was great to see Andy Murray win. The Brownlee brothers were inspiring. I was so appreciative of how the gymnasts handled being downgraded to a Bronze. I liked how our local pub installed big screen TVs and held theme days and kept us informed with chalk board updates. Our green grocer had the fruit Olympics telling us the daily fruit tally. Apparently it is a tie between tomatoes and cherries. I liked the cleverness of the beeb's red button options. And the Times coverage. And the Metros clever 17 special covers. I loved seeing the torch relay and the window displays in Shadoxhurst and Bude. It was great to see Usain Bolt win again but Mo Farah captured all of what is good about being a family in the UK. *** The lesson though is what comes next. Sydney 2000 saw a boom in travel for about 3 years after the Games. Well the major tourist spots did. I was lucky to be on a committee for regional economic development and we looked at strategies to 'extend' the life of travel spend beyond Sydney. Our region did really well I am happy to make notes and learnings from that committee and a report available to Ecademy members. I will post it as a Slideshare http://www.slideshare.net/TCE/2012-london-olympics-and-beyond The video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lzSEfBwdZo Hope that helps

Olympics and Winning

I am proud of GB - and last night dreamt heavily about the Olympics. The medals are great The ceremonies have been fantastic The organisation pretty damn flawless in the end But this isn't why I'm proud. I was proud to be in London on a warm afternoon last week - and seeing people be polite to one another - to give up their seats on the tube willingly for the old for whom the heat was telling on them. I was proud of the families and their excitement en-route to the games. Their enthusiasm, their patience, their clear love for the spirit of what this meant and for each other. I was proud of the people picking up litter, making things look good, going the extra step. These small gestures are vital - in their own way - every bit as important as the big stuff. It's made me feel that the optimism I've been relentlessly training in my brain about the UK since the beginning of the world's financial troubles is not mis-placed. We can do good here. Lots of good.

Olympics and Winning

I stand by a value that says "Until we all win, we all lose" and what that means is I'm only ever attempting to "WIN" over my own self limiting beliefs. I would say that I have a determined personality and attitude, determined to see this through, determined to reach for the potential I see, determined to win over my limitations. Personality wise, that's really not my call, I just feel ... determined, stoic, indefatigable, relentless.
