What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

Now that's a short time frame. Not enough time to rush out and book that world trip; certainly not enough time to do ANYTHING on my bucket list.

John D Allen was faced with that dilemma. Though he didn't know it of course - it was the surgeons working on him who knew they had a one hour window to save him.

Find out what happened to John in this incredibly powerful story - ann

What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

I think I would talk to the people who matter to me the most. Sit down and relax since doctors always get it wrong. Think positive thoughts and be determined to live. Speak to the people who matter to me three hours later.

What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

Dear Ann, Thank you so much for your great question and for sharing! If Fukushima Reactor Unit 4 would be hit by a strong earthquake again and the worst case would happen, all the world's population would die within hours from the moment the radioactive cloud would have reached the country in which people live. What would I do in such a case? I have no clear idea! I can imagine that I would invite my wife and my son to the opera or to the last dinner in a restaurant before we would all collectively die! We're in the Chinese Year of the Water Dragon and I hope the worst case won't destroy our planet and we can finally close down all nuclear power plants all over the planet! TEPCO was just bailed out by the Japanese government for one trillion yen! If Japan Can... Why Can't We? I wish you a happy and successful day! Best regards, Lucas

Prioitise Relationships

1. God - whether you have given time for God (or even kidded yourself He did not exist) it is time to be sure of your relationship with God. Tell Him you are sorry for all you have done wrong - You don't need to make a list - but ask Him to give you peace and assurance that all is forgiven. Then you can face the rest, He will tell you that Jesus has met your need. So that need not take long - but will colour everything that follows. 2. Then your nearest and dearest. Tell them to let the rest know. Those that matter know that they are not as important as your spouse, children, siblings and parents. May you have peace! Daniel Roberts Ecademy Evangelist

Had a chuckle Claire - I'm an ex smoker so can totally identify. I would now probably eat an entire box of chocolates coupled with 3 extra large cappuchinos! ann

What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

At this point, I'd probably be so utterly crushed by the news that I would do nothing but cry. Not very good, I know, but that is me being honest. I'd probably just about pull myself together in time to share with my family how much they mean to me - and with a few special friends. But above all, it would be all about my family, who I have realised mean more to me now than anything else on Earth. If it happened a few years down the line, I hope I would be more sanguine about it all, but right now I would be crushed. Funny being such a self-destructive person who didn't care at all for their own welfare not that long ago. I guess that's why I want, more then ever, to live now, to love and to contribute to the world.

love the comments everyone - as I said in John's case he wasn't even aware that there was a one hour window of opportunity to save him - but these types of stories (I believe) keep reminding us to get clear on what is important in our lives - and from the responses above, you already know that. And in John's case (hope you read the story) he truly did work out what was important for him going forward. Ann

Be with loved ones and contact those too far afield to share time with. Anything else is either selfish or insane, or a bit of both - imho.

What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

If there was absolutely and unequivocally no other outcome other than one hour left to live then I think that I would do the following: Find the best way to tell as many people as I can that they matter to me and I love them totally, wholeheartedly and unconditionally. Spend as much time connected with my daughter as I could in whatever way was possible. Hug whoever I could regardless of who they are or what our relationship had been previously. Write a letter to the world - telling people to make the most of being "authentically you" and live life to the full. it would be written as I would write to the person I loved more than anyone else. It would be likely that I would spend some of that time here. Even if it is to publish a copy of that letter. I would probably cry and there would probably be some part of me wanting to find a solution and a way out. Then there would no doubt be a feeling of acceptance and release before finally letting go. The over-riding aim would be to be as conscious and as aware of every second as it passes making the most of the opportunity to enjoy my connectedness with the world and special people.

What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

I'd seek to decide who I could help the most, given my circumstances, from those people that I love, help them as best as I could, and ask them to tell all the others that I loved them too. In other words I'd use the time left to make the most difference to the people left.

What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

If I was physically able to do so, not being one for exercise. I would want to spend my time on-line telling my family and friends how much they have meant to me and how much I love them all and as a Christian I would do the best I could to convey to them my belief that God in whom I trust and believe has given me a wonderful time in this life and has prepared a better life for me in the time now coming by the gift of life eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ and that I would pray and hope to see them all at some future time in eternity and that I wished I could have had more time to tell them this.

What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

I would either a) watch my favourite episode of 60 minutes or b) spend every second telling my immediate family just how much I love them.

What would you do if you had only one hour to live?

Hi Ann, I suspect that would very much depend on the circumstances. On my physical capabilities, my state of mental health, where in this world I was and why I only had one hour to live. Too many unknowns to answer this question, however I agree with Martin's comment, assuming I was not under duress, or held captive somewhere, or the last person alive at the apocalypse, or...or...or...I would want to say goodbye to my children, to tell them and my grandchildren I love them.
