Father Dexter Prudenciano

Father Dexter Prudenciano

My name is Father Dexter, and I am currently the Executive Director of the (SHEC) St. Hannibal Empowerment Centre, which is a religious organization of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus. The goal of SHEC is to empower the poor people of Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, through housing, livelihood, education, health, youth and values formation. The logo sums up the whole nature of SHEC. It delineates two essential elements: prayer and work. First, the prayerful hands show that getting in touch with God is an important element. This means praying to God in order to ask for holy workers on this earth. Secondly, working hand in hand with the people, especially the poor, together with Jesus and St. Hannibal Di Francia shows another integral element of the life of SHEC. Both prayer and work lead to a more effective empowerment, thus, proclaiming of the Kingdom of God here on earth. I live amongst the people, living simply like them, the purpose of which is to develop solidarity with them, in order to guide them / assist and facilitate them in carrying out their own programmes of daily living. I have joined Ecademy at the invitation of Lawrence Perry, to raise awareness of our community, and eventually I hope, raise funds for the good of SHEC. I became a priest on January 11 2003 after attending twelve years in seminary formation. I was called to become a priest in 1990. I look foward to meeting Ecademists and enlarging my network and fundbase. "Father dexter is a man who envsions a just, fair and livable planet especially for the poor people here in the Philippines. As my former student in Social Work, I can say the he has lived up to the ideals of a good leader, character, scholarly ability and integrity. As person, he is lovable and down to earth. His humility is one quality that attracted me much. I was happy to know that our classroom discussions such as making a difference in lives of those who are less privileged is now a reality. Congratulations on your new NGO! Take care always.... Prof. Bucoy "
