CYCLING CLUB - HOME PAGE The Ecademy Cycling Club - not aimed at any particular cycling enthusiast but at all the different types of two-wheel pedal power. 27th to 31st May 2004 - John O'Groats to Lands End We made it!! 11 riders and 2 drivers made the trip from John O'Groats to Lands End in exactly 60 hours. After all the preparations we found that the stories about the prevailing wind were right - we battled against it all the way (especially over the Highlands) - and also had to overcome the (at times) appalling rain. Still, over 180 miles (2 riders at a time) we had only one broken spoke and no punctures. The causes were worthwhile - CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Children), the Paul Bevan Cancer Foundation, and the Anthony Nolan Trust and we managed to hit the £10K fundraising target. Club Rides Rides were few and far between in 2004 so definitely time to re-establish some momentum for 2005. Check out the Events page for details of forthcoming rides for 2005 or click on the Club Rides page for a review of where we've been. Reviews include Wessex 100, Kent Invicta, London to Windsor, Basingstoke Big Wheel and Henley-on-Thames. Alternatively, Jonathan Senior has set up a specialist Triathlon club within the Ecademy. Go here for more information. MTB Off-road? Mountain biking? Some of you probably don't think a ride is worthing doing unless you get soaking wet and covered in mud. Great fun, but let us know where to find the best events. This is definitely an area of the Club that will come to life over the Winter months.
